After nearly 30 years of playing shows, making records and writing songs, it’s fair to call Matthew Carlson a veteran. From his current work in the Stick Arounds and Harborcoat, to his previous stints in The Pantones and Third Uncle, Carlson has spent a lifetime writing songs filled with vivid characters, detailed worlds and personal touches.

“I am heading out on a brewery tour across the great state of Michigan. Over the course of eleven consecutive nights, I will play my songs and tell my stories at a different Michigan brewery. Along the way, I will be chatting with the owners, brewers, and beer lovers I meet. The journey will be shared afterward on both my podcast, and in written form on my Substack, What Am I Making.

The goal here is to create a tour that celebrates as many great things about our wonderful state as possible. In playing these shows, I hope to connect even more with my home state and get a chance to play in new towns and cities. In writing and podcasting about my journey, I hope to shed more light on this great state, the beer and cider we're making here everyday, and the people at the heart of that culture.”
